IRVINE, Calif., May 23, 2024 – Knobbe Martens is proud to share that associates Ryan Newell and James Raleigh have been awarded the Patent Pro Bono Achievement Certificate by the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
The Patent Pro Bono Achievement Certificate is awarded to “the individuals and law firms that have volunteered significant time and effort to help financially under-resourced inventors and small businesses protect their ideas, positioning them to more fully realize their dreams.” Mr. Newell and Mr. Raleigh were recognized for their work with the California Inventors Assistance Program [CIAP], a regional offshoot of the USPTO’s Patent Pro Bono Program designed to assist financially under-resourced independent inventors and small businesses. Their work included helping individuals to patent inventions aimed at addressing climate change and the housing crisis.
Earlier this year, Mr. Raleigh was recognized alongside fellow associates Jamal Perry and Arash Pia as part of the Federal Bar Association’s Step Up Pro Bono Challenge.
