Firm named ‘Hatch-Waxman Litigation Firm of the Year’; Carol Pitzel Cruz receives ‘Hatch-Waxman Litigator of the Year’ award
IRVINE, Calif., September 5, 2025 – Knobbe Martens is pleased to share that the firm’s Hatch-Waxman Litigation practice received multiple accolades at the 2025 LMG Life Sciences Americas Awards, held yesterday in New York City. The LMG Life Sciences Awards honor “the region’s most distinguished practitioners and their firms for their exemplary work in the Life Sciences legal practice over the past twelve months.”
At the event, Knobbe Martens was named ‘Hatch-Waxman Litigation Firm of the Year’ for its standout work representing clients in the generic pharmaceutical industry. In addition, Carol Pitzel Cruz, Co-Chair of the firm’s Hatch-Waxman Litigation group and Managing Partner of the Seattle office, was named ‘Hatch-Waxman Litigator of the Year (Generic)’. This follows fellow practice Co-Chair and Washington, D.C. Managing Partner William Zimmerman’s receipt of that honor in 2024.
The firm and a number of its partners were shortlisted for multiple patent litigation and prosecution recognitions at the awards, including ‘IP Boutique Firm of the Year,’ which it was awarded last year. In the most recent annual LMG Life Sciences survey, the firm’s Hatch-Waxman Litigation practice sustained the highest-possible ‘Tier 1’ ranking.
Knobbe Martens’ Hatch-Waxman Litigation team continues to deliver exceptional results for high-profile, innovative pharmaceutical clients. Earlier in the year, a group from Knobbe Martens secured a victory on behalf of Padagis Pharmaceuticals that resulted in more affordable glaucoma medication. The firm also successfully represented Lupin in a long-running dispute regarding a drug that treats life-threatening kidney disease.
