IRVINE, Calif., January 16, 2025 – Knobbe Martens is proud to share that attorneys Jae Jin Lee and Ryan Newell have been recognized for their participation in the Federal Bar Association’s StepUp Pro Bono Challenge.
The StepUp Pro Bono Challenge encourages young lawyers to complete 50 hours of pro bono work on behalf of nonprofit organizations or low-income individuals, with the aim of increasing access to legal services.
Both Mr. Lee and Mr. Newell provided pro bono services in partnership with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)’s California Inventors Assistance Program. Mr. Lee assisted a pro bono qualified inventor with applying for a technological patent, and Mr. Newell provided pro bono assistance to an individual seeking to patent a renewable energy invention. Mr. Lee’s pro bono work also included offering legal services to a mental health provider.
Last year, Mr. Newell was awarded The Patent Pro Bono Achievement Certificate by the USPTO.
