Overview
Peter Law is a Partner in the firm’s San Diego office. Peter has a degree in Chemical Engineering from Brigham Young University, and worked as a nuclear engineer for Lockheed Martin and the Naval Nuclear Power Program, where he specialized in operation and testing of submarine and aircraft carrier nuclear propulsion systems. After six years with Lockheed Martin, Peter began law school, and graduated in 2011 with highest honors. Peter joined Knobbe Martens as an associate in 2011 and became a partner in 2018.
Peter has experience in a variety of technical areas, including pharmaceuticals, mechanical and chemical engineering, computer systems, logistics, and physics. Peter has experience in many aspects of patent and trademark law including litigation, prosecution, licensing, strategic client counseling, and inter partes reviews, and actively works in client counseling, licensing, patent prosecution, trademark prosecution, and inter partes review.

Kamstrup A/S v. Apator Miitors APS, Case IPR2015-01403 (2016).
Represented Kamstrup in petition to invalidate claims of a patent related to ultrasonic flow meters. Obtained a final written decision invalidating all claims.
Ariosa Diagnostics, Inc. v. Illumina, Inc., Case IPR2014-01093 (2016).
Represented Illumina in an IPR proceeding defending a patent directed to noninvasive prenatal screening methods. Obtained final written decision upholding the validity of all challenged claims.
Roche Molecular Systems Inc. v. Illumina, Inc., Case IPR2015-01091 (2015).
Defended Illumina against a petition for IPR regarding a patent for noninvasive prenatal screening methods. Obtained decision denying petition and rejecting all challenges raised against Illumina’s claims.
Intelligent Bio-Systems, Inc. v. Illumina Cambridge Ltd., Case IPR2013-00517 (2015).
Represented Illumina in an IPR proceeding defending a patent directed to DNA sequencing-by-synthesis. Obtained final written decision upholding the validity of all challenged claims.
