Menkes weighs in on the effects behind the decision for trademark applicants and lawyers, sharing that he believes there will be “significant benefits that will outweigh the initial costs in the long run.” He adds, “I think we can expect to see at least some applications being approved for publication in a shorter time frame, which is beneficial for applicants and the USPTO and should help the USPTO reduce any backlog over time.”
