Orange County
Patent attorney David Cohen provides guidance to clients ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies in technology-focused industries, including optics, electronics & semiconductors and software & information technology. He graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a B.A. in Civil and Environmental Engineering and earned his J.D. from the Gould School of Law at the University of Southern California. Prior to attending law school, David worked as an engineer, giving him unique insight into the complexities and implications of clients’ innovations.
Litigator Brandon Smith tries cases across the country and before the U.S. International Trade Commission. His practice includes patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret litigation, and data privacy matters. He also gained litigation experience as a deputy district attorney with the Orange County District Attorney’s Office as part of the Trial Attorney Partnership program, where he successfully prosecuted criminal matters as a first chair trial attorney. Smith earned his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo and his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law.
Sabrina Wang, whose practice involves patent prosecution, trademark searches, IP litigation, and IP due diligence for a variety of technologies, has a focus on medical devices and mechanical technology. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering from the National University of Singapore. While earning her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, Wang served on the Article Review Board of Virginia Journal of Law & Technology. Before joining Knobbe Martens, Wang worked as an engineer developing medical devices in the United States and abroad.
San Diego
Jordan Gottdank focuses on patent prosecution, with widespread experience in industries such as electronics, communications technology, optics, medical devices, transportation, apparel and sporting goods. He has a B.A. in Physics from Oberlin College and earned his J.D. from the University of California Los Angeles School of Law, where he co-founded the Intellectual Property Law Association and worked as a research assistant in the fields of intellectual property law and international environmental regulation. While in law school, Jordan served as a judicial extern for four judges in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, working exclusively on patent cases.
Los Angeles
Kregg Koch’s practice focuses on patent prosecution, counseling, licensing and litigation for mechanical and medical devices. Koch, who holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and an M.S. in Civil Engineering and Structural Mechanics, previously worked as a conceptual design and manufacturing support engineer on the Space Shuttle’s rocket engine program for The Boeing Company. While there, Koch received NASA’s Space Flight Awareness Award for engine safety related to his contributions. He earned his J.D. from the University of California Los Angeles School of Law.
Seattle
Nathan Reeves, whose practice emphasizes litigation and United States Patent and Trademark Office trial proceedings such as inter partes reviews, represents clients in the software and web services, medical device and consumer goods industries. Reeves earned his B.A. in History, B.S. in Mathematics and B.S.E. in Mechanical Engineering at Walla Walla University in the Pacific Northwest. While receiving his J.D. at Harvard Law School, Reeves worked as a clinical intern in the school’s Cyberlaw Clinic and was managing editor of the Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy.
